About

The site

Prayers and petitions to God come in all lengths and types. They range from the simple, “Have mercy on me, a sinner, O God!” to an hour spent praising and adoring God as Father. They go from the prayer on the knees to the “windshield prayer” during your daily commute, He hears them all. Our command to “Pray continually” is one of the shortest verses in all of scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is not an event, it’s a lifestyle. A friend once told me his father began every public prayer he offered with “And God…” To him, he hadn’t begun a prayer in the worship assembly, he simply continued his private prayer in public.

Our goal is to help create that spirit of continual conversation with God by sharing with you what others are saying to God. While your message can be about any topic, this website focuses on one length of prayer: the 140-character limit of a “tweet.” Why? Because we want to “redeem” one of the fastest-growing methods of communication and harness its great power to the glory of God.

The writer of Hebrews tells us this about Jesus (Hebrews 5:7 NIV):
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Today, we pray to the same God, and, in a sense, we often pray the same prayer: God, please deliver us from the sting of death and replace it with the sweet healing found only in eternal life.

The Project

If you submit your tweet to this site, by clicking on the box you are giving us permission to share your thoughts with others—to uplift and inspire them. You are also saying you are willing to someday see your prayer in print. Your identity will be protected: first name, age and hometown are all that will run and even that is to give the reader a little idea of who you are. If you need an extra measure of privacy, put “anonymous” in the hometown box. Your e-mail address will give us a chance to tell you when the project becomes a reality in book form and will not  be used for any other purpose, traded or sold.
